Jenna at Choreofit adapted her fitness classes and brought them online so quickly at the start of the lockdown. The classes have proven to be a true highlight of my time shielding at home but more importantly improved and uplifted my mental health along with hundreds of others. Jenna has created a positive and caring online community at such a crucial time and I am very proud and honoured to be part.

Elite Body Works have provided free online education and fitness classes throughout lockdown. The classes have provided structure for my week, sometimes something to look forward to. For someone living alone this has been a huge part of my survival!

Raij in the Old Basing Village shop has worked so hard to support our village. For the elderly unable to get out he took phone orders and delivered to them for free so they were never worried about going out. The amount of fresh produce eggs flour toilet rolls fresh bread is always constant ensuring the most vulnerable were looked after first. The whole team are amazing I can’t thank them enough for taking such great care of us all

Raj and his wife have kept Pamber Heath Stores open with the same hours as they always do and worked extremely long hours when their usual staff had to self-isolate. They worked so hard to make sure that they had everything that the community needed , when even the larger supermarkets had shortages. They have even delivered essentials to people that were self-isolating. Thank you from the Pamber Heath community.

John Burton Foodmarket have gone above and beyond for their regular customers and many new customers during the pandemic. Starting a delivery service and working round the clock to keep the shop stocked. They are a jewel in the local community and we are lucky to have them.

Cel created a delivery service when lockdown began and delivered fresh bread, rolls, delicious baked treats and most of all he delivered It with an amazing smile every single time. He created special packs for VE Day and Father’s Day and brought lots of smiles to so many. He worked all the hours in order to make sure everyone who ordered received their order – amazing company, thank you Cel!

The Lime Leaf remained open and delivered food to shielding residents during lockdown. Over 60 lunches were donated to NHS and Key Workers. thank you for supporting the local community across Basingstoke.

Faye and Hollie have reached out to every single dancer of Dancephaze throughout the pandemic, checking in with everyone and offering support. They put on online dance classes , quizzes and virtual get togethers to help keep everyone motivated and dancing. Thank you so much!

During the lockdown when all restaurants were close, Dominoes Pizza visited Applelea Care on 2 ocassions and gave out free pizza to cheer everyone up. Thank you so much!

Sherfield Park’s Nisa shop is run by Kerminder and a very small team of dedicated staff. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic Kerminder has shown his compassion and determination to support the local community in Sherfield Park Parish. Kerminder set up an email account for people who are isolating to send in their grocery needs, and he would personally deliver them to their door. He and his team are unsung heroes, supporting the vulnerable in our community, and ensuring everyone in Sherfield Park Parish has access to the groceries they need. The whole community thanks them for their fantastic effort.

Dummer Yoga have given there all in keeping the Dummer Yoga Community together in mind, body & spirit with yoga classes via ‘Zoom’ but more importantly for those in the yoga community not able to join in the classes such encouraging, inspiring & informative weekly newsletters which have been such a lifeline through these difficult weeks since March particularly for those of us during lockdown whom live on our own!

Marie has supported me and many other pregnant and early postnatal mums through the very difficult period of lockdown. Sharing updates from the government, pre and post natal advice, remote classes and one to one support. She very quickly adapted to the new situation and acted with kindness and compassion for those of us going through the life changing event of childbirth. She has been a pillar of strength, resilience and calm. Marie has kept supporting us all, alongside the other members of the gym, all while looking after her own family. She has always done it will a smile on her face and with genuine care for people. Lockdown and the time since would have been a very different experience for me and many others without the tremendous work of Marie and Studio 41. I can’t thank her enough.

“Kevin is the Overton Village Butcher. During lockdown he stayed away from his wife and two little boys to keep everyone safe. He served the village long hours even opening on Sundays. Kevin sources local produce so everything is fresh and of the best quality. He has remained cheerful daily always smiling and often with the odd amusing quip! Every customer is treated as if they were the only one and never rushed. He certainly deserves recognition, an asset to The Wonderful Village of Overton.

Clair totally restructured her successful and growing dog daycare business to enable her to care for Key Worker pets during the intense lockdown period. As others were closing their doors to save money and resources, Clair worked 12 hour days single handed 7 days a week – enabling the areas vital key workers to go to work and help the community. She truly is a local hero!

Harlequin Signs went out of there way to raise an amazing £1000 for the NHS during lockdown by selling tshirts. Well done to them.

The Pink Place provided zoom sessions for cancer patients who were shielding were amazing! They provided a reason to get up, fun and laughter at an already difficult time. These sessions helped with our mental well-being and allowed those 12 weeks to pass quickly and be remembered at a pleasant time spent on zoom with like minded friends.

Basingstoke School of Martial Arts was running online classes for students five to six times a week. Also to keep motivated he organised online fit, calisthenic and yoga class. He did online quiz for children. Important to say all students felt motivated and as few had to stay at home or couldn’t work it was great motivation and even seeing people through computer screen kept all happy..

A big thank you to all at Liaise Loddon Limited for supporting each other in these difficult times. Each and everyone of you have supported our vulnerable service users to continue to have an active lifestyle – looked at so many different ways to keep everyone happy, and most of all for your commitment to come in everyday and adjust to different ways of working. You are a team that I am so proud to lead Thank you all so much.

David the owner of Church Street Models combined his daily exercise with running orders to his customers to enable them to continue with their modelling hobbies. Many were elderly or self isolating and being able to continue with their hobby was important for their mental health. In May David ran over 200 miles delivering.

The Blue Ginger provided free meals to Whitchurch every week for 14 weeks during lockdown. 1254 meals were donated to the elderly and vulnerable, to the surgery and local ambulance station, to the care homes, and to local NHS and care workers. The meals provided a boost for the town when we were still in the early grip of lockdown. Thank you!

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Jo is and what a brilliant support system she has been to her J-Force family during this difficult time. When the government announced the closure of gyms and fitness classes, Jo worked so hard to quickly start her classes virtually using Zoom. As well as providing her classes online, which has become the highlight of our days, Jo has created a real community by keeping us all together through messenger chats and weekly coffee and chat sessions and providing a safe space where we can all share our worries and help each other. Jo is such a lovely person and despite living with all of the same uncertainties we have all had during lockdown, she has been kept us motivated and has been a pillar of strength. Her energy and enthusiasm is infectious and her classes are always fun. We can’t thank Jo enough for keeping us motivated and healthy during this time.

Reece and Leigh of Hardimans Posh Nosh worked throughout lockdown helping the community all over Hampshire in isolation with fruit/veg boxes, meat and dairy packs and even full shopping lists of the local residents of Overton. Easy to order and delivered straight to your door. Thank you!

Suzi and Jane Catering provided hot meals when I couldn’t get a delivery and before I started receiving emergency boxes and then weekly deliveries. They even went out of their way to get us fresh fruit and vegetables every week. They have been so helpful. I can thank them enough.

Pauline took it upon herself to share all the BDBC and EM3 updates with her business contacts.  We found this invaluable, often receiving information before our industry bodies relayed it.  Pauline is a star and in integral part to the Basingstoke Business Community.

Janice Roberts runs this fitness company and during lockdown she has switched all her classes (at least 7 per week) to online, via zoom right from March 24th. She is so positive with such a can do attitude and she has motivated all her participants and encouraged me to get through this difficult time. She has mastered new technology, enhancing it regularly to add audio and then with microphones to give us inspiration and therefore kept me fit and healthy. I don’t know where I would be without her support.

Pizza Hut delivered pizzas to all of the care homes in Basingstoke, thank you so much Pizza Hut!
